The Orcas Research Group has installed this list server for the purpose of stimulating discussion on topics relevant to our work. It is intended to help build a community of individuals who are willing to share information about island economic issues. Discussion may include information about the unique problems of living and doing business on an island. Participants will also benefit from receiving email correspondence between other members of the list which will help keep us all up on current issues trends and ideas.
A word about common courtesy is in order. We will begin with an open list, which is to say that anyone can sign up. In addition, we will automatically forward all correspondence to all members of the list. As long as participants are courteous, do not flame at others and DO NOT ADVERTISE, we will continue to operate in this manner.
If someone abuses the list, they will be removed and will not be allowed to sign up again. If SPAM becomes a problem, we will convert to a moderated list, in which every message is reviewed by the list administrator before being sent to the rest of the list. Needless to say, this puts a big delay in the responsiveness of the list and we would prefer to not have to take this step.
